TMJ Massage Therapies® is a non-invasive, whole body approach to TMJ Dysfunction.

What is TMJ?

The temporomandibular joint — your TMJ — is the small but mighty hinge that connects your jaw bone to your skull, sitting just in front of each ear.

The joint that never gets a day off

The temporomandibular joint is one of the most used joints in your body, moving every time you speak, chew, yawn, or swallow. Simple as it sounds, it's actually a remarkably complex structure, involving bone, cartilage, muscles, nerves, and connective tissue all working in close coordination.

When things get out of balance

TMJ disorders can develop gradually and quietly. Stress that settles into clenching or grinding, an old knock to the head or jaw, the way you sleep, dental work, or long-held postural patterns — any of these can place the joint under strain over time. And because the jaw doesn't work in isolation, when something shifts there, the body adapts to compensate. Muscles brace, tissues tighten, and tension begins to travel — up into the head, down into the neck and shoulders, and sometimes much further.

More connected than you might think

You might be surprised by how wide-reaching jaw tension can be. Headaches and migraines, ear pain or a sense of fullness, ringing in the ears, neck stiffness, disrupted sleep, even a feeling of fogginess or fatigue — these can all be part of the picture. This is where fascia becomes important. Fascia is the continuous web of connective tissue that wraps around every muscle, organ, and structure in your body. Because the jaw shares fascial connections with the throat, skull, neck, and beyond, tension in one area can quietly pull on another — sometimes far from where you'd expect. Understanding this bigger picture is key to working with TMJ in a way that actually lasts.

A space to slow down and find relief

Sessions are available as 60 or 90 minutes, and both are designed with the same philosophy at heart: that real change happens when we treat the whole person, not just the symptom. We'll explore not only the jaw itself but the wider patterns of tension, movement, and holding that your body has built up over time — gently, and at a pace that feels right for you. The 60-minute session is a beautiful option for focused work or regular support, while 90 minutes gives us more room to go deeper and truly settle in. Whichever you choose, you'll leave with a little more ease — and a body that feels more like home.

What your session includes

Each session begins with a thorough assessment of your jaw function, looking at movement, range, and the patterns your body has developed over time. We then work through a full body fascial reset, followed by therapeutic massage of the head, face, and neck to ease the muscles most directly involved in jaw tension. Sessions also include intraoral massage — gentle work inside the mouth to reach the deep jaw muscles that can't be accessed from the outside. It's a technique that can feel unfamiliar at first, but most people find it surprisingly comfortable and deeply relieving.
